Judge Williams graduated from South Texas College of Law in Houston, receiving his Juris Doctor degree in 1981. He ran a general civil practice in Houston, from 1984 until his election in 2010. Judge Williams has been married for 27 years and is the proud father of two sons. Judge Williams and his family have lived in Precinct 5 since 1986. Judge Williams is an Assistant Scout Master and is a Life Scout. He served previously as a den leader and committee chair for a Cub Scout pack. Judge Williams served 5 years as an active member of the Texas State Guard, one of the military branches of the State of Texas. He was commissioned by Governor Rick Perry as a Captain, and assigned as a JAG officer Headquartered in Camp Mabry, Austin Texas, and permitted to drill with a local Army regiment. The Judge has volunteered to serve at various community events including Wings over Houston, Dickens on the Strand, the Houston National Cemetery, and the Fort Bend County Fair. He also served in storm shelters during Hurricane Katrina, earned a Military Emergency Management Skill badge with the State Guard, and attended training sponsored by the United States Department of Homeland Security at the Energetic Materials Research and Testing Center at New Mexico Tech. Judge Williams also served as the Chairman and Election Judge for voter precinct 625 for 4 years. The Judge is conversant in Spanish. Judge Williams rode in the 2009 BP MS 150 bicycle race, an annual charity bike ride from Houston to Austin.
